Personal Bio/Professional CV Dr. Shashi K. Agarwal is a retired Internist/Cardiologist with previous practices in New Jersey and New York. He graduated from Grant Medical College, Bombay University, India in 1974. He was the Chief Medical Resident at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey affiliated Bergen Pines County Hospital in Paramus, New Jersey in 1979. He finished his Cardiology Fellowship from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals in 1981. Subsequently he served as Assistant to the Chief of Cardiology at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ and the Chief of Medicine of the South Amboy Hospital in South Amboy, New Jersey. He has also received formal training in Acupuncture from Harvard Medical School in Boston and Neuro-muscular electrophysiology from University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Dr. Agarwal is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Chest Physicians, Royal Society of Medicine in London, International Council of Integrative Medicine of Australia, College of Geriatric Cardiology, American College of Geriatric Specialists, American Association of Integrative Medicine, International College of Physicians and The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine of UK. He is also a Patron Member of the American Association of Physicians from India. He was the President of the Indian Physician Association of New Jersey for the year 2006. He was on the Executive Board of the American Association of Integrative Medicine from 2007-2010 and the Advisory Board of the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America (AAPNA) 2010. Dr. Agarwal obtained his Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1979 and Cardiovascular Diseases in 1981. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine, American Association of Integrative Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Agarwal has also been active in clinical research and has participated in several Phase III and Phase IV drug studies. He has been an active member of the Research Associations, ICR London and Sigma XR New York. Since 2010, he has presented over 150 scientific abstracts/posters at both national and international scientific meetings. He has also had over 30 articles published in medical journals since 2010. He has also published over 500 articles on health, in publications for the general public. He has regularly appeared on WMBC TV on health issues. He spoke on cardiovascular prevention at the Silver Jubilee Scientific Meetings of the Association of American Physicians of Indian origin in Philadelphia in 2007. He has spoken during the Annual Meetings of the American Association of Integrative Medicine in Kansas in 2007 and Las Vegas in 2009 on Cardiovascular Care: An Integrative Approach. He has been a speaker for American Heart Association and a consultant speaker for many pharmaceutical companies. His book entitled, "Healthy Heart-Naturally!" was recently published. He has received the American Medical Association Physicians' Recognition award every year since 1981. He is listed in Marquis Who's Who in Medicine. He has been awarded several national and international honors for his social and cultural activities. He received the Hind Rattan Award (Gem of India ) from the Indian Prime Minister Hon. I. K. Gujral; 1998-2001. He has received the highest awards from the National Republican Congressional Committee -the Republican Presidential Legion of Merit and the highest award from the National Republican Senatorial Committee - the Republican Senatorial Medal of Freedom He has been the Official Physician for the Miss India USA and Miss India Worldwide for the last ten years. He has also been a Judge for Miss India Worldwide, Mumbai, India (2004); Miss India Worldwide, South Africa (2008); Miss India Canada Worldwide, Toronto, Canada, (2005); Miss India USA, Tampa, Fl. (2005, 2009); Miss Phillipine USA, Secaucus, NJ (2005), Miss India UK, Leicester, UK (2005), and several other beauty and music contests. He has been the President (1997-1999) and later Chairman (2000-2001), Board of Directors, Asian American Heritage Council of New Jersey. He was the Chairman of the World Hindi Foundation Annual Convention in 2009 in Edison, NJ. He is a life member of Mensa. He has been listed in Marquis Who's Who in American and Who's Who in the World. Dr. Agarwal lives in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His son Neil, 26, is an Internal Medicine resident at Hahnemann Medical Center (Drexel University) in Philadelphia and is daughter Ayna, 23 is a graduate of Stanford University. Palo Alto. California and is preparing to go to Business School.
